DIM is thought to play an important part in the control and balance of estrogen within the body. 16 alpha-hydroxyestrone is a stronger form of estrogen linked to weight gain and incresed risk of some cancers. DIM may stimulate production of a less potent, more beneficial form of estrogen (2-hydroxyesterone).
